At Sewickley Montessori, we believe every child has an innate desire to learn. Guided by the Montessori philosophy, we nurture the whole child—physically, socially, emotionally, and academically—within a carefully prepared environment that fosters independence, curiosity, and a lifelong love of learning.

Our mixed-age classrooms encourage children to learn from one another while building confidence, responsibility, and a strong sense of community. Every program is thoughtfully designed to meet children where they are developmentally while inspiring a love of learning that lasts a lifetime.

Toddler Program (18 Months–3 Years)

Our Toddler Program is designed to foster independence, confidence, language development, and a strong sense of belonging. Children learn through purposeful movement and hands-on exploration in a calm, nurturing environment. Daily experiences emphasize practical life skills, language, music, movement, outdoor exploration, and the development of social-emotional skills. Through consistent routines and respectful guidance, toddlers build the confidence to care for themselves, interact with others, and explore the world around them.

Children’s House (Ages 3–6)

Children’s House classrooms provide a rich Montessori environment where children choose purposeful work throughout an uninterrupted work cycle. Students develop strong foundations in Practical Life, Sensorial, Language, Mathematics, and Cultural Studies, while also cultivating concentration, independence, self-discipline, and a love of discovery. Mixed-age classrooms encourage collaboration, leadership, and peer mentorship as younger children learn from older classmates and older children reinforce their understanding by helping others.

Lower Elementary (Grades 1–3)

Our Lower Elementary program builds upon the Montessori foundation established in Children’s House while encouraging students to think deeply, ask meaningful questions, and make connections across subject areas. Students engage in integrated studies of language arts, mathematics, science, geography, history, cultural studies, the arts, and community engagement through hands-on materials, collaborative projects, and research. As children grow academically, they also develop leadership, responsibility, critical thinking, creativity, and a strong sense of stewardship for their classroom and the wider community.

Across every program, our goal is to nurture children who are curious, compassionate, confident, and prepared to become thoughtful contributors to the world around them.

Admissions Process

1. Join the Waitlist
   Families interested in future enrollment are encouraged to join our waitlist as early as possible. Joining the waitlist allows us to keep you informed about admissions updates, future enrollment opportunities, and important school news.
2. Schedule a Tour
   Before moving forward with the admissions process, all prospective families are required to attend a campus tour. Tours provide an opportunity to observe our classrooms, learn about the Montessori philosophy, and ask questions about our programs and community.
3. Submit an Admission Application
   When an opening becomes available or your anticipated enrollment year approaches, you will be invited to complete an online Admission Application.
4. Attend an Admissions Visit
   Your child will be invited for a short Admissions Visit, where they will spend time in the classroom with our teachers, explore Montessori materials, and experience the environment.
5. Receive an Enrollment Decision
   Following the Admissions Visit, families will receive an admissions decision. If accepted, you will receive an enrollment link and information about the next steps to complete registration and secure your child’s enrollment.
