Lifeguard Certification Courses

Come learn the skills and procedures to help keep swimmers safe in your community.

The purpose of the American Red Cross Lifeguarding course is to provide entry-level lifeguard participants with the knowledge and skills to prevent, recognize and respond to aquatic emergencies and to provide care

To enroll, you must be at least 15 years old before the last scheduled class Date. To participate in the course, you must be able to pass a prerequisite skills evaluation that includes the following:

  1. Swim 300 yards continuously
  2. Tread water for 2 minutes using only the
  3. legs. Complete a timed 10 lb, brick retrial event within 1 minute, 40 seconds.

To successfully complete the course, you must complete the online blended learning (will be shared via Email) and attend the entire course, participate in all skill sessions/drills, activities, and scenarios. Demonstrate competency in all required skills and scenarios, and pass the final written exams with a minimum grade of 80 percent.

American Red Cross Lifeguard Course

The purpose of the American Red Cross Lifeguarding course is to teach candidates the Knowledge and skills needed to prevent and respond to aquatic emergencies. The course content and activities prepare candidates to recognize and respond quickly and effectively to emergencies and prevent drowning and injuries.

CPR and First Aid are part of the course as well as Lifeguarding the certification will be valid for 2 years
