Swim Lessons: (ages 06-12 yrs) Youth

In Stage 1, Water Acclimation, participants build confidence in underwater exploration and learn safe water exits. This foundational stage sets the groundwork for future swimming success. It’s the right starting point for children who are not yet comfortable getting their face wet. Held in the large pool.

In Stage 2, Water Movement, participants refine body position and control, directional change, and forward movement while continuing to practice safe water exits. Key outcomes include basic swimming competency and personal water safety: learning to swim-float-swim and jump-push turn-grab. Held in the large pool.

In Stage 3, Water Stamina, participants learn to swim to safety over longer distances. Rhythmic breathing and coordinated arm and leg movements are introduced. Held in the large pool.

In Stage 4, Stroke Introduction, participants develop stroke-related skills. Techniques for front and back crawl, as well as breaststroke and butterfly kick, are learned. Water safety is reinforced through treading water and elementary backstroke. Held in the large pool.

In Stage 5, Stroke Development, children focus on refining stroke technique and learning all major competitive strokes. Emphasis remains on water safety with practice in treading water and sidestroke. Held in the large pool.

In Stage 6, Stroke Mechanics, children hone stroke technique across all major competitive strokes. They learn about competitive swimming, and discover how to incorporate swimming into a healthy lifestyle. Held in the large pool.
