Swim Lessons - Y Child Care Only
Swim lessons for children who are enrolled in the Sewickley Valley YMCA Child Care program at the Sewickley YMCA. On Wednesday mornings, children will be taken out of child care and returned to child care by an child Care staff members. Program offered during school year- September to May.
Stage 01: Water Acclimation YMCA Child Care
In Stage 1, Water Acclimation, Sewickley Valley YMCA childcare students develop comfort with underwater exploration. All new students begin at this stage: floating, rolling, blowing bubbles, and exiting the pool are among the foundational skills taught. Held in the warm pool.

Stage 02: Water Movement YMCA Child Care
In Stage 2, Water Movement, Sewickley Valley YMCA childcare students refine body position, directional change, and forward movement in the water. Safety skills, including safe water exits, are continually practiced. Held in the warm pool.

Stage 03: Water Stamina YMCA Child Care
In Stage 3, Water Stamina, Sewickley Valley YMCA childcare students learn to swim to safety over longer distances. Rhythmic breathing and coordinated arm and leg movements are introduced. Held in the warm pool.

Stage 04: Stroke Introduction YMCA Child Care
In Stage 4, Stroke Introduction, Sewickley Valley YMCA childcare students develop stroke-related skills. Techniques for front and back crawl, as well as breaststroke and butterfly kick, are learned. Water safety is reinforced through treading water and elementary backstroke. Held in the large pool.
